People with intellectual disabilities should be allowed to make bad choices, just like everyone else. None of us learn who we are by being protected from every mistake. When we step in too quickly, we don’t keep someone safe, we take away their chance to learn, to decide, and to own their life. Great support doesn’t mean stopping people from choosing wrong.
