VFX teams don’t struggle with creating fire. They struggle with making it believable under scrutiny. The usual solution is to keep fixing it in post: tweaking sims, repainting frames, force motion blur, fighting notes. It works, until it doesn’t. For our Molotov Cocktail Collection, we didn’t simulate fire at all. We filmed it! Practically, chaotically, and honestly, so the elements already behave the way real fire does when they hit a shot.
