We are already all in and the last resort is to do a spinal tap as abnormalities in the brain could be due to inflammation (encephalitis) or vascular issues (such as a stroke or other blood flow-related problems). A spinal tap (lumbar puncture) is going to examine cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for signs of infection or inflammation. Encephalitis, for example, would show markers of infection or immune response in the CSF, while vascular issues
